Best Local Chapter 2024

JCI TOOMPEA

Individual Development and Membership Growth

In JCI Toompea, we believe that we are one family, and the goal for the last couple of years has been to include the members and make it possible for them to include their families. We believe that personal touch and good communication, and empathy is the basis for long-term commitment and motivation in JCI. We have had a goal to include 8 new members every year. In 2022 we had 7 new members and in 2023 we had 10 new members joining the chapter. In 2024, so far we have 5 new members. Currently, JCI Toompea is one of the biggest Chapters in Estonia with 29 members, plus senators, honorary members and supporting members.

Member’s Activity and Participation in Projects

Of the newly joined members in 2023, more than half were included in the 2024 local board to take responsibility and develop new skills and obtain new knowledge. The current board of JCI Toompea, in total, is 14 members, including new members, members who have been part of the chapter for some years, and senators who have mentor roles. We want to empower people to take the next steps and be out of their comfort zones, this is where the learning happens.

Community Development Programs and Results

JCI Toompea is focused on entrepreneurship and leadership; our most famous programs are Ärifoorum (Business Forum), Liidrikool (Leadership School), and Tallinna Inglise Kolledzi ettevõtlusõpe (Tallinn English College Entrepreneurship Studies), with the last-mentioned project the plan is to take this all over Estonia and to teach high school students about entrepreneurship. Every year, we have about a hundred people participating in the programs.

International Development Programs and Results

JCI Toompea believes in the importance of international relations and the power of the network. Four of five of our twinning chapters are foreign: JCI Kotka (Finland), JCI Mariehman (JCI Finland), JCI Stockholm (Sweden), JCI Osaka (Japan), and from Estonia is JCI Toomemäe. We have active communication with our twinning chapters and, every quarter, organize events together. We are looking for ways to create projects together to give our people the possibility to work with an international team and gain valuable experience from this. Twinning is winning!
